India is also a prominent exporter of fresh mangoes to the world. The country has exported 46510.27 MT of fresh mangoes to the world for the worth of Rs. 406.45 crores/ 60.26 USD Millions during the year 2018-19.

VARIETY:

Variety Characteristics
Alphonso This variety is medium in size, ovate oblique in shape and orange-yellow in colour. The pulp is yellow to orange in colour. It is soft, firm and fibreless. It is a mid-season variety.
Banganpalli The flesh is firm to meaty, fibreless. The fruit is large in size and obliquely oval in shape. The colour of the fruit is golden yellow. Good keeping quality and a mid-season variety.
Chausa The fruit is large in size, ovate to oval oblique in shape and light yellow in colour. It is a late variety.
Dashehri Fruit size is medium, the shape is oblong to oblong-oblique and fruit colour is yellow. The pulp is firm and fibreless and a mid-season variety.
Langra The fruit is of medium size, ovate shape and lettuce green in colour. The lemon-yellow flesh is juicy and flavourful. It is scarcely fibrous, a midseason variety.
Totapuri Fruit size is medium to large, shape is oblong with necked base and colour is golden yellow. Flesh is cadmium yellow and fibreless, a midseason variety.
Kesar Fruits are medium-sized, the flesh is sweet and fibreless. Colour is apricot yellow with red blush, an early-season variety.

 

Exports:

India’s Export of Mangoes has been increased by Rs. 209 crores in 2010-11 from Rs 142 crores in 2006-07, representing a growth of 47%. The major 5 importing countries of India’s Mangoes were UAE, Bangladesh, UK, Saudi Arabia, and Nepal respectively; these countries alone comprises of around 87% of India’s total export of Mango. The major importing regions of India’s Mangoes were WANA, South Asia and EU-27 countries respectively.

Packaging & its details

 

For Export

  • Each individual fruit of mango will be enclosed in a clean, white, soft, expandable and netted type polystyrene sleeve to prevent bruising before packing in a box.
  • The mangoes packed in insect-proof boxes.
  • Ventilated boxes are used.
  • The materials used inside the package is new, clean, and good quality such as to avoid causing any external or internal damage to the products.

The use of materials, particularly of paper or stamps bearing trade specifications, provided the printing or labelling with non-toxic ink or glue.
